We’re proud as punch to share that our Merimbula and Wapengo farms have been recognised at the 2025 Sydney Royal Fine Food Show, earning national medals across both our Appellation Oysters and Oystersmiths product ranges.
Led by Braden (Merimbula) and Jason (Wapengo), our farm teams have done us, and our estuaries, proud.
Despite a challenging season, with several estuary closures across the coast, these two sites were able to shine a light on the quality and resilience that define growing oysters. With just two estuaries entered, we came away with four medals:
Gold – Appellation Merimbula Bistro
Silver – Oystersmiths Merimbula Plate
Silver – Appellation Merimbula Bottle
Bronze – Appellation Wapengo Bottle
Each oyster reflects not only the pristine waters of the far South Coast, but the dedication and craftsmanship of the teams who nurture them to harvest. These results are a testament to the pride we take in our growing regions, our people, and the merroir-driven experience our oysters offer.
A heartfelt congratulations to Braden and Jason - your deep care for your estuaries, and the way you lead your teams with purpose and pride, is what truly sets your oysters apart. And to every hand along the journey from farm to fork - thank you. Your dedication, especially through a challenging season, made these results possible.
We also want to extend a warm congratulations to our industry friends at Tathra Oysters, who took out Champion Trophies in both the Commercial and Boutique classes, and were honoured with the prestigious President’s Medal. Their commitment to excellence continues to help raise the bar for Australian aquaculture.
To the Judges and Stewards of the Sydney Royal Aquaculture Competition - thank you. Your expertise, dedication and attention to quality are what make these awards so meaningful. A special mention to John Susman, Chair of Judges, whose insightful commentary adds colour and context to the open judging process.
At Australia’s Oyster Coast, we believe that oyster farming is a shared pursuit, grounded in nature and elevated by people. This year’s results reflect that ethos beautifully.
